
Reverend Jimmy Melvin
Rev. Jimmy Melvin is the Senior Pastor of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church in Delway, N.C. In Rev. Melvin’s 40-year pastoral ministry, he has served churches in Sampson, Pender, and Bladen counties. Rev. Melvin not only served the churches he pastored, but also served in the surrounding communities lending his leadership and influence to support schools and local businesses. In addition to a 40-plus year career in ministry, Rev. Melvin worked 30 years and retired from Goodyear Tire Company. Rev. Melvin is the proud husband of Janet Melvin and together they have five children and eight grandchildren. Rev. Melvin currently serves on the local NAACP board, The Sampson County Democratic Party, Co-founder of the Highsmith Community Watch, and the local Minister’s Alliance. When it comes to access to clean water, Rev. Melvin believes this is a humanity issue that extends beyond race, creed, or religion.
